Over the past three years that One Hundred Owls has been a means for expression, I’ve released three eps and worked with several projects and artists, none of which has been in the full-blown capacity that I desired at the time.
However now, settled back in Calgary, Ab and finally with a studio again, I can humour every aspect of this project that shows itself. More importantly are the people I have around me, great talents willing to share in this projects ideology, the removal of ego and collaborating their genius in ways they may not have considered prior. Such is my hope with all of this.
Something a bandmate once said to me years ago still resonates with me today, he said, ‘you have to trust the people you play with’, you can’t expect them to do what you want. Too many chefs in the kitchen ruined some of my projects but taught me a lot. Now I express myself in any way and lead by instrument rather than mouth.
After no releases in 2011 due to being on the road - and I admit foolishly that I thought I would find the time to do so - I’ve accumulated several tracks that will be deemed the next album, titled Four Floors of Whores.
I’m excited by this release, no dates set, none of that garbage. It’ll come when it comes but it’s safe to say that half the album is complete.
Art, collab names etc.. will all be released as they come, shit changes so no promises need to be made save for the album will be released this year and a full live performance is in the works. It’s time to play this madness live!
See you then.
